Colorado State University Receives 2015 Best Suburban Venue

Unique Venues Best of Awards: CSU wins Best Suburban Location

Unique Venues Magazine features, in their winter issue, the winners of its second annual Best of Awards. Last year we were excited to receive the award for Best Venue to Host a Youth Meeting or Sports Camp, and we had high hopes for the 2015 edition.  Dezarai and Elodie were hoping to bring back a trophy from the Unique Venues members’ conference in Washington DC… and they did! Colorado State University was voted 2015 Best Suburban Venue and was runner up for 2015 Best Outdoor Event Space.

Named one of the top ten places to live and work in national polls the past five years, Fort Collins is becoming quite the destination and planners in the know are turning to Colorado State University, located halfway between metro Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park, to host memorable meetings and events. When asked about event planners’ experience, our Director, Dezarai, explains that our guests can enjoy our suburban atmosphere without the commotion and the high rates of a metropolitan destination. The self-contained, one-square-mile campus offers more than 50,000 square feet of new and renovated meeting space, 23,000 square feet of innovative classroom space, and almost 6,000 beds, all booked by our certified One-Stop Shop office.

On-site guests can enjoy the Lory Student Center and eat at the RamSkellar, while responsibly enjoying Fort Collins’ finest craft beers. The MAX, Fort Collins’ bus rapid transit System can transport guests to midtown and downtown, which is charming enough to inspired Walt’s design of Disney Land’s Main Street.

CES: Tourism Ambassadors

This spring our full-time staff and student assistants became Certified Tourism Ambassadors (CTAs). The CTA accreditation is the only industry recognized certification program for our nation’s hospitality front line! This qualification training is gaining popularity around the country as interested residents and professionals evolve into hospitality leaders for their specific region. We are proud to announce that we are now part of the Fort Collins CTA team, and we are here to enhance our visitors’ experiences and create positive memories. Our partnership with the Fort Collins Convention and Visitors Bureau will be reflected this summer in our residence halls with brochures, maps, and other tips on what to do while visiting Fort Collins. For more information visit ctanetwork.com. Thank you for choosing Fort Collins as your destination; we look forward to guiding you in all of your event and travel endeavors.

Colorado State University Receives Best Venue to Host a Youth Meeting or Sports Camp

The youth of America arc in good hands at Colorado State University. The campus has a number of parameters in place to make sure visiting groups of children are well attended during their stay, which can average three to five nights. First the university requires a 12-1 adult-to-youth ratio at all times and provides every adult group leader with a green wristband to assist staff and young guests with quick identification. The layout of the one square mile campus is also beneficial because it is self-contained with no major thoroughfares - and is walkable and bike friendly. "our rec center is very appealing for our youth groups because of the lazy river pool and 55-foot climbing wall," says Dezarai Brubaker, director. But even more important are the long-term goals, she says. "The experience gives potential college students firsthand experiences that can be valuable in making educational choices in the future."
